Custom profile attributes in news block

Hello,

I have been trying to modify the news block without much success. I would like to use a custom attribute called realname in the news block. Rather than displaying the author's username, I would like to display the value of the custom attribute realname for the author of the post in $news_row.

I've looked over both the phpBB wiki for custom profile attributes, as well as some of the posts on this board (viewtopic.php?f=28&t=1218&start=0&hilit=custom+profile). I am still having trouble with what code modifications are needed.

If anyone has an example or some documentation they could point me towards, that would be most helpful.

I'm trying to achieve a similar thing but with friends.php file instead.

Check out what I've written so far, you may be able to get it to work.
