Best upgrade procedure for both board3portal AND phpBB3

Procrastination time is over... I am due for an update.

My Board3Portal is 1.0.5, I need to upgrade it to latest (1.0.6) + french translation files.
My phpBB version is 3.07-PL1, I need to upgrade it to latest (3.0.9)

I don't have any other MOD installed.

What method of upgrade would you recommend ?
Should I update phpbb3 before and then board3 or the other way around, or it does matter at all ?
About phpBB3, should I go with the Automatic, Changed Files, or Patch method ?

I just want to make sure to proceed in the best way so that everything run smooth after the update..

In principle, one should first aktualliesieren the basic software.
For phpBB, they can make the automatic update.
But only ever one version after another.
