User group colour doesn't update on portal page only

What have you done before the problem was there?
For testing purposes, before the board goes live, I was moving a user up through the groups and ranks to test permissions for each.

What have you already tryed to solve the problem?
Purging the cache, resetting template and themes.

Hi,
I've got an issue, which is only showing on the portal page. On the main forum pages it's fine.
I've got a user, who is an admin, whose colour I cannot get to change.
During testing, I moved him up through the groups and ranks until he's now an admin, but he's still got the (pink) trial member colour applied to his name, which I can't get to change.
I've tried changing his rank to all different options, including none, I've tried adding and removing him from all groups and setting up different combinations of groups too. He should be green like the other admins, but I can't get this pink to shift!
It almost looks like it's been set against his username, rather than being picked up from the group.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
