Installation Problem

Hi,
I am trying to install the portal and the following error message appeared. Note that I do not have any MODs uploaded.
Code: Select all
General Error
Language file portal_install.php couldn't be opened.
Please notify the board administrator or webmaster: admin@mysite.com
And just to make sure, as I am a total noob... Install means to navigate via my browser to
http://www.mysite.com/forum/install_portal/install.php right? And then something should appear and tell me to do something, right?
I looked around the forum and found the same question. It mentioned that maybe the constants.php file had not been updated properly. I double checked and it looks fine.
Thanks!

Kevin,
Thanks for the hint. Looks like I missed copying over a couple of files in the English section
Note that the board default is English.
Anyway, the install screen came up (yes!) and then the "delete install_portal" directory message came up. I deleted the directory and tried to go to
http://www.mysite.com/forum and the following message appeared:
Code: Select all
template->_tpl_load_file(): File ./styles/subsilver2/template//portal/portal_body.html does not exist or is empty
hmmm... If I copy over the forum/styles/prosilver/template/portal*.* files to the subliver2 directory would it work?
Thanks again.

If you take a closer look in the package, you'll find a templates directory.
Therein you'll find the subsilver2 directory, containing the needed files and the subsilver2.xml with the instructions to install the subsilver2 template for the portal.

Yes! This is so weird. I was using my host's FTP and the subsilver2 template files did not appear. Very strange. Anyway, I found the files, did the changes, uploaded and it worked! Shocker. This was on my test forum so there should be an easy way to upload the structure to my live forum or do I need to repeat the process.
Next step is to learn how to edit the blocks for images/links. Kevin, thanks for the help and have a nice day.
Cheers,
JJStick

This belongs to the flash clock in German date format.
Will be replaced in the next version - in the mean time you could take
this one. Right click on the link + save file. Afterwards you could rename the clock and overwrite it - don't forget to purge the cache.
