Yes! I even tried to do it yesterday, but I have only the option to uninstall

I also ran unsuccessfully install_update.php

First of, you should always access the installer via install/index.php. Secondly, please try removing the table phpbb_portal_config from your database (the prefix phpbb_ might be different). After that you should be able to install it again.
