Center Column Block

If this is in the wrong place super sorry..
I'd love to have the center column block become a grid
IE:
That's a grid, I'd love to have something like that. when a use click on one of those boxes it would become an overlay that would show information once clicked on.
Trying to tweak my portal to become semi like that image.
