What have you done before the problem was there?
I have installed a clean phpbb3 forum and then i have installed the board3 portal with the instructions. When i want to go to the portal or forum after the portal istallation i get a error 404.
When i remove the rule "DirectoryIndex portal.php index.php index.html index.htm" from the .htacces file then it will give a error 500.

What have you already tryed to solve the problem?
Already looked at the restrictions and acces rights, they are fine.

A 404 tells me that the file is not there, but I can also tell you what I saw on your board:
Not able to open ./cache/data_global.php

Check your .htaccess in you cache folder.

I have checked it and now the forum works but i can't get the portal to work

It seems like you disabled the portal in the ACP.

Do you know how to enable it? Thanks for your reply!

Open the ACP, click on the MODS-Tab and click on General Settings under the portal heading in the left sidebar. There you can enable it.

When i do the edits in the files as the instructions say, then it goes wrong. My page doesn't work anymore after these edits.

I want to edit the following files but it doens't work for me, please help

includes/constants.php,
includes/functions.php,
includes/session.php,
styles/prosilver/template/overall_header.html,
styles/prosilver/template/overall_footer.html,
styles/prosilver/theme/stylesheet.css

Now nothing works anymore after re-edditing the files
