Help with a mod

Good Evening everyone,
I've been having major issues trying to get a block to work on the site, it's a new block and i've read the tutorial on here, but no matter what I do, it doesn't show in the drop down menu on the ACP.
Is there any obvious reason this could be happening? All I want the block to do is display a countdown SWF file which uses a .js to count down.
Would very much appreciate some help with this.
