Is there an easy quick way to update the version of board3?

there's an upgrader built into it.

And how do I use this upgrader? There is no mention of it in the instructions.

run the installer. it will give you an option to upgrade. same as if you where updating phpbb3 or any number of mods, they all use them same "type" of installer/upgrader.

You mean after I've copied over and edited all the files?

yes you need to make sure any edit's are done. now if your upgrading most (or all) of the edit's from the install.xml wil be done. but it never hurts to double check. Upload the files and run the installer so it updates the database.

make a backup of your files and sql, never telling what might happen, and it's better to be safe then sorry.
