Language file portal_install.php (Yes, I have read the KB)

Post by Redemption »

Your Portal Version: 1.0.2
Your phpBB Type: Standard phpBB3
MODs installed: No
Your knowledge: Basic Knowledge

What have you done before the problem was there?
Clean install of PHPBB3, did the file uploads and modifications

What have you already tryed to solve the problem?
I *HAVE* read the KB article here: knowledge/kb_show.php?id=30 regarding the language files, however, I honestly don't understand the instructions.

Other language files are contained in the directory "/languages/your language" which is located ABOVE the root portal directory in the package (zip) file!

This is because the MODX-Packaging-Guidelines dictate that additional language files have to be in the directory "/languages" rather than in the /root/ directory of the package.

Independent from that your language files have to be uploaded in the "/language/your language" directory of your forums!

What specifically do we need to do to resolve this problem. My uncompressed zip folder for 1.0.2 has no languages folder *above* the root directory, it DOES have a language folder below the root folder. However, I already copied the files over per the instructions.
#

Copy: root/language/en/mods/*.*
To: language/en/mods/*.*
I also copied the DE mods folder over as well as the KB article mentioned all files. Any help you can provide would be appreciated. Do we need to rename the language folder to languages? The KB is fairly confusing to me.
Edit: Removed duplicate information

Ok, in your phpbb install does /language/en/mods/portal_install.php and /language/en/mods/lang_portal.php exist?

Let me do a fresh install of PHPBB3 and verify what language is setup and set.
Will start from scratch (never hurts to start again) and then report back and check the things mentioned
Thanks all
