Changing sides?

Post by smartcooky »

I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask, and I'm sure an Admin/Mod can move it if I have it wrong.

I was wondering if there is a mod to allow the Admin of a forum to choose, via the ACP, which side of the portal he would like any particular portal block to appear. I imagine that this would be in the form of a simple radio button (left or right) in each block's configuration page in the ACP.

Also, is there a mod to allow the Admin to change the vertical order in which the left and right portal blocks are displayed. I imagine that you could simply move them up or down with a click on an up or down arrow, similar to the way Admins can currently change the order of forums and categories.

Ther are no such mods, and i think there wont be...
This will be - amongst others - a feature of portal v2.x.x ;)
Till then, you can change the order of your blocks just by hand.

No access to portal_body.html? Are you just an Co-Admin with no FTP access?
If you have access to the ACP you can use the template editor instead... ;)

Yes, I am an admin of a hosted forum, so I have ACP access but no FTP access

In ACP > STYLES > Templates there is no option to edit.. only "Cache" and "Refresh"

In ACP > STYLES > Themes there is an option to edit the CSS, and I have done a fair bit of that, e.g. changing colours and images, adding banners, footers, background images, setting foreground transparency, that sort of thing. However, I have never found anything in the Theme CSS that I thought related to the positions of the Portal Blocks.

Are you saying that I can change the block positions by editing the theme CSS?

No, you would need to edit the Template. If that isn't possible, you can't change the block positions.
