Ok, well is there any way to use a recent topics block in the sidebar with Board3 Portal?

Assume I don't fully understand how to do that, and what code from the NV Recent Topics to include - what should I do? Ideally, I want to have my recent topics show in the sidebar, is there any way to do that with board3 as it currently sits?
